Today (Thursday, April 15th) marks the 109th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. There will be a net tonight at 1900EDT discussing the radio equipment and the distress comms sent out during that tragedy.

Titanic Net - TIN 4-15-2021 7PM EDT - CQD/SOS DE MGY (RMS TITANIC) - The birth and demise of the Titanic. April 15 1912. Sank one hundred and nine years before this net. We will be discussing the design, specifications, accoutrements, passenger and crew accommodations along with radio equipment aboard, and the reason it met its Waterloo. ~ RMS TITANIC MAY 31,1911 TO APRIL 15, 1912 — PROGRAM PRESENTED BY: THE SCARS STAFF AND FRIENDS — ECHOLINK Node: 96140, IRLP 9614, ALLSTAR 27404, DMR TG 3145983, D-STAR XLX004-J, AND FUSION YSF XLX00

There was a really interesting interview with VE1FA Fred Archibald on this same topic put out a few weeks ago by a new-ish podcast called “The Last Wire,” which can also be found on YouTube. It’s worth listening to.

I’ll be listening to this TIN net tonight if possible, and I’ll participate if, by chance, I’m not driving the whole time.
